Welcome to Best of the Valley Quilt Show! Plans are well underway for our 22nd edition, to be held April 7-9, 2017. Most of the vendor space has been filled, though every once in a while there is a last minute change/cancellation. The special exhibits are reserved, and our Featured Artist is hard at work.
But, despite all of the work behind the scenes, it is you, and your quilts that make our show The Best. If you are working on something special, and have yet to enter your work, perhaps this is the opportunity you've been waiting for. Entry forms are available to download or, you can enter online on our Entry Rules & Forms page.
Time and again, first time entrants walk away amazed by the opinions of our judges. And our judges? They always rave about the quality of the workmanship. This year's judges will be Judy Taylor and Diane Pitchford, both from Arizona.
Our 2017 Featured Artist is Barbara Daniel of Ducor, CA. Barbara is a longtime quilter, who has yet to meet a technique she has not wanted to explore. She makes traditional bed quilts, and loves hand applique. In addition, much of her recent work focuses on art quilts. Her series of barn quilts is stunning, and you won't want to miss seeing them up close and personal.
This year we have a special treat for you. The 2015 Sacred Threads traveling exhibit is making its last stop in Lindsay. This biannual show touches the viewer with quilts depicting Joy, Inspiration, Spirituality, Healing, Grief, and Peace. Combine this with our usual array of spectacular competition quilts, quilts by quilters 80 and older, quilts by quilters under 18, hand-crafted dolls, and other special surprises, and 2017 will be a year you won't want to miss.
Lastly, we are again calling out for entries for our Best of the Valley challenge, open to all residents of California. The theme for your 24 x 18" quilt is "Colors of the Valley." Feel like expressing yourself? This is the perfect opportunity. Entry forms are available online, or by contacting us. Challenge quilts are due March 1, 2016.
This is but an overview of what to expect in 2017. Don't forget to send in your entries, then mark your calendars, and come see the show: April 7-9, 2017, 10-5 Fri/Sat, 10-4 on Sunday. $10 at the door, or $15/3-day pass.
